Heart problems, cardiopathy or cardiac diseases are the terms used for the diseases that affecting the heart and its functioning. It may cause death if it is not treated at the right time. There are many types of heart diseases that can affect the heart. These include: Coronary heart disease is a heart disease in which the supply of coronary circulation is failed, and cardiac muscles and tissues do not get adequate circulation of blood.
Cardiomyopathy is the deterioration of muscle's function due to any reason. Those people who face this disease are at the risk of sudden cardiac death or arrhythmia. There are two types of cardiomyopathy, extrinsic and intrinsic. In extrinsic cardiomyopathy, the primary pathology is outside the myocardium itself. Most of the cardiomyopathies are extrinsic. In intrinsic cardiomyopathy, the muscles of the heart get weak due to unknown reasons.
Cardiovascular disease is also among one of the heart diseases. It includes any specific disease that affects the heart or the blood vessels. They normally attack on arteries and veins of the heart.
Ischaemic heart disease is a disease if heart. It is caused when the blood supply to the cardiac muscles is reduced.
There are many diagnostic tests of heart disease that are carried out to diagnose the cause of heart disease. These are:
• Electrocardiogram is a test in which the electronic activities of the heart are recorded.
• Echocardiogram tests the sound waves to diagnose the problem. This id done when the heart sounds are bounced off the parts of the heart that creates the picture of the heart on the monitor.
• In Stress test, the patient is asked to exercise and doctor checks the electrocardiogram machine for reaction of heart muscles.
• Carotid artery scan uses sound waves to check any blockage in the carotid artery.
• Catheterization is a test in which a long but thin tube is inserted in the body of a patient to inject a special dye in his body. It shows any blockage in the arteries due to plaque.
